Ans – The ways of managing childbirth in traditional societies are very useful . They are many and varied in traditional societies mothers are supported culturally and collectively . She is cared by her husband, Relatives and the other members of a family .

  1. How is childbirth a family affair in traditional society ?

Ans – In traditional societies , since when a woman gets pregnant , she is treated like a princess . All the members of her family give her a VIP protocol . She does not feel any insecurity during her pregnancy . Her husband , mother in laws and all the other members take care of her requirements. All the members participate collectively in all the rituals .

  1. Why do sylheti women go to stay her mother’s house during the last stage of her pregnancy ?

Ans – In Sylhet , a division of Bangladesh ; if a girls ‘ parents are alive goes to her mother’s house for the last few months of her pregnancy and about the first three months of the baby’s life . Because she gets a lot of love and care there . All her desires are fulfilled there .

Ans – When a young Sylheti woman gets pregnant as a reward , they go to visit her mother’s home where she spends her remaining days of pregnancy with love and fancy . It is believed that in her first pregnancy they need special care and security which is possible at their maternal house .

Ans – In the Western societies , born baby is said just to be a only child of the mother . The mother takes it as the routine events of their life . But in Eastern societies the mother treats as her prince / princess . She is so attached to the new born baby that she is even ready to give more importance to the child than to her husband.

Ans – Most of the people are deprived of proper treatment due to being poverty – stricken . They cannot get the expensive drugs . Also , the weak infrastructure and obsolete way of treatment sometime leads to hazard . No more than poverty which has stopped our Technology from reaching into every hut and hovel.

  1. Why is the mortality rate higher in traditional society during childbirth ?

Ans – The mortality rate during childbirth is higher in traditional society because of absence of proper treatment . They did not get proper medical care during pregnancy and childbirth . The people from traditional Society avoid going to Hospital . Actually , except for remarkable accidents birth is always attended in their society . A large number of them depends upon traditional system of treatment and also in superstitions belief

8 . How are the children of joint family in Bangladesh looked after ?

Ans – In Bangladesh , children are looked after by the whole family . They are reared together ; the works of daughter in laws are divided , one of them bathes them all , one of them cooks the meal , and another feeds them . In the afternoon the children hears Rupthoka from their favourite aunt .

9 . In a traditional society , how is the whole matter of pregnancy a celebration ?

Ans – Really the whole matter of pregnancy is one of the celebrations in traditional societies because from the beginning of the pregnancy the mother is given a proper care . After the baby is born it is an occasion of joy for the whole family . Also , the naming ceremony is held for the newborn baby . All the members celebrate it with great zeal and zest .

  1. Why does a Pregnant woman in a traditional society does not feel that she is alone ?

Ans – no doubt a pregnant woman in a traditional society does not feel alone . The members of her family are there to support her . Her wishes have special rights . She fancies the sense of security .
